A Five Day Program of Awareness and Enhancement for Allies to Native Women

DAY ONE
The nature of spirituality in traditional native culture. The goodness of
creation and the pervasiveness of goodness in human nature. Humankind as
a social being. The way of the circle. Human community - family and culture.
Relations and thanksgiving. Human nature - healing and creativity. Storytelling
- the oldest art. The humanizing and healing power of the circle.
DAY TWO
Sexism and the distressed society. The origins and effects of sexism. The
traditional power of women in native cultures. The oppression of men in
a distressed society. The battle of the sexes. The liberation of men. The
liberation of women. Men and women as friends and allies.
DAY THREE
Sexual confusion, disfunction, and abuse. Sexual addiction. Healing emotional/sexual
distress and addictions.
DAY FOUR
Rational Sexuality. Cleaning up unhealthy patterns. Early Sexual Memories.
The Power of Choice. Spiritual Reality.
DAY FIVE
A Medicine Wheel of Healthy Sexuality: Physical, Mental, Emotional, and
Spiritual.
I also propose a joint council of men and women together, either at the
end of the program or where it may fit the women's schedule, in which each
person, or a panel of spokespersons (depending on time and the number of
participants) would answer the following:
What are the good things about your sex you would like the other sex to
know?
Where are the places where it gets hard being of your sex?
How could the other sex support you better?
In what ways could you be an ally for the other sex?
