The following may be offered as lectures, one-day, weekend
or mini-workshops of several hours duration:
SPIRITUAL ECOLOGY
NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT AT THIS TIME THAN OUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE
EARTH AND THE NATURAL WORLD. MISUNDERSTANDING AND MISTREATMENT OF THESE
HAS BECOME SO ACUTE THAT NOW MANY SCIENTISTS ARE PESSIMISTIC ABOUT THE SURVIVAL
OF OUR SPECIES. THEY SAY IT IS ALREADY TOO LATE TO SAVE US. BUT TEACHINGS
OF NATIVE AMERICAN ELDERS HOLD THAT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE RETURN TO THE OLD WAYS
OF THINKING WE CAN RESTORE THE BALANCE AND HARMONY AND MAKE THE EARTH ONCE
MORE A PLACE OF BEAUTY, HEALTH, AND INSPIRATION FOR OURSELVES AND OUR CHILDREN.
For Native Americans spirituality is not a separate category of thought,
separate from politcs, economics, ecology, or culture, but is the way in
which we relate to everything, the web that connects Creation.
We will experience our connections, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual,
to the earth and all of Creation. We will learn how to find the visions
that may guide us in achieving the healing of the planet and the creation
of a more human society. We will find and take the next steps for each of
us in the recovery of all of our love, all of our creative intelligence,
and all of our joy and enthusiasm at every moment in our lives.
Introduction to Re-Evaluation Counseling
Re-evaluation Counseling is the origin of what is often called peer-counseling
or co-counseling and in over forty years has developed an effective body
of theory and technique and an international community of teachers and practitioners
in virtually every nation on earth which is quickly becoming the most important
agent of world change in this century. Its rapid growth without publicity
stems from being the best self-help system of emotional healing, personal
growth and empowerment, providing improved quality of relationships, parenting,
leadership, creativity, and the ability to help others help themselves and
effectively address community, national, and global issues.
Prisoner Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention
A unique voluntary program with unprecedented success in the recovery of
hope and the transformation of prisoners based on principles of Native American
spiritual understanding which has been in operation in a state prison in
Connecticut for several years. Medicine Story explains the way the program
works and how it could be taught and expanded in other institutions and
brought to young people on the outside.
Substance Abuse and Addiction
An explanation of the causes of addiction and how it functions, and a self-help
method to recovery through peer counseling which is easily taught, enjoyable,
and effective even for those who have not been helped through other self-help
groups.
Spiritual Sexuality - A Medicine Wheel
We live in a culture in which eroticism is limited, exploited, and distorted
in ways that make sexuality confused and confusing for virtually everyone.
Based on Native American spiritual understanding we can broaden our experience
of sexuality to encompass the mental and emotional and the spiritual for
a deepening, healing, expansion of ourselves, our relationships with each
other and with Creation.
