What is Finger?
A user can get information such as real name and last login about a
particular user account using the Finger software. By editing the
.plan file, a user can add any desired information to the basic
finger output, like a schedule or phone/pager number. The
X500 software implements a superset of
such information, but is not generally installed at all sites.
